Meetings:
Stephen Ministers meet for Supervision sessions every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month at 6:30pm and take Continuing Education courses at this meeting when scheduled.
What is Stephen Ministry?
Stephen Ministry is part of the Pastoral Care Team at Our Lady of Lourdes. Stephen Ministers are laypeople — Christian men and women—trained to provide one-to-one care to people experiencing a difficult time in life, such as grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, relocation, or separation due to military deployment. The program was created and founded by Dr. Kenneth C. Haugk, a clinical psychologist and Lutheran pastor who saw the value of training lay people to care for people going through life’s crisis.
While Stephen Ministry is an international organization, locally Our Lady of Lourdes joins a community of 70 churches of multiple denominations in the Atlanta area – the Atlanta Stephen Ministry Network – implementing the Stephen Ministry program.

Interested in Becoming a Stephen Minister?
Stephen Ministers undergo 50 hours of training facilitated by Stephen Leaders. The training they receive equips them to provide high-quality care to people who are hurting. Prospective Stephen Ministers must fill out an application and are interviewed to ensure that the ministry is a good fit for them. Learn more about the training.
Lourdes currently recruits Stephen Ministers every other year. The next anticipated recruiting period is 2017.
Selected applicants are sent to training at the Cathedral of Christ the King through a partnership between the Stephen Ministry Teams at both parishes. Contact Fr. Interested in Becoming a Stephen Leader?
Stephen Leaders are pastors, church staff, and lay leaders who work together as a team to lead Stephen Ministry. They possess a talent for administration, marketing, training and project management. To become a Stephen Leader, you must be available to attend a week long out of town training course provided by the Stephen Ministry organization, fill out an application and undergo an interview. Stephen Leaders are recruited all year long as there is a greater need for this talent. Contact the Church office at 404-522-6776 if interested.
