Lourdes Athletics

Lourdes Athletics is a sports group for young adults (18 and over) in the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Through organized sports leagues and events, we are committed to enriching the lives of our members spiritually, socially and in the community. We currently have co-ed teams competing in basketball, bowling, volleyball, softball, and flag-football and look forward to adding teams in soccer and sand volleyball.

The group began four years ago under the advisement of Father John Adamski. Under his leadership and guidance, the Lourdes basketball teams have won three championships and the volleyball team won one championship. In 2007, the men’s basketball team won the Archbishop’s Cup in the men’s 30 and over basketball league and the softball team finished runner-up in the competitive division.

Lourdes Athletics is in conjunction with ACS (Atlanta Catholic Sports), the largest adult Catholic sports program of its kind in the United States. Founded in 1998, ACS has more than 2,100 adults playing in seven sports leagues. While geared toward Catholics, some of the members are from other Christian faiths. All of the leagues and activities are co-ed and have divisions for more competitive, skilled players and intermediate and/or recreational divisions for those newer to a sport who simply want to enjoy Christian fellowship while honing their athletic skills.
