Sadly, police use of deadly force visited Atlanta this weekend. The police chief has resigned. A man found sleeping in his car in a fast food lot was roused and then things escalated. And ended up with a shot that killed. More details will emerge in coming days. The question that hovers over this tragic scene is whether a nonviolent escalation or some alternative to lethal force could have been used.
While we offer prayers for the victim’s family and all involved in this atrocious event, we are fervently committed to standing together as the Body of Christ and to other action so that justice is served.
