Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (Eucharistic Ministers)

Kenneth Louis, Director of Music and Liturgy

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are active Catholic women and men who assist in the distribution of Holy Communion during the Eucharist. At times, they may also be asked to take communion to someone who is hospitalized or homebound. A training session is required before someone may fulfill this liturgical ministry. Training sessions are held at Lourdes on a periodic basis. According to Archdiocese of Atlanta norms, an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion must be at least 16 years of age.
