Chester Griffin

Deacon Chester is a native of Lubbock, Texas and has been a member of Our Lady of Lourdes since 1977. He was ordained to the permanent Diaconate in February 2003 and assigned as deacon at Lourdes. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Howard University and a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Georgia State University.

Chester is a member of the Knights of Peter Claver, Lourdes Choir, Men’s Ministry, Lourdes Lunch, Simon’s Call (AIDS Ministry) and Sister Parish (Haiti) Ministry. He leads the Lourdes Pastoral Care Team visiting and ministering to the sick and shut in, prepares couples for marriage and is a Stephen Minister. He is active in interfaith and Archdiocesan organizations, including the Archdiocesan Task Force to End the Death Penalty.

Chester is also a professional musician and music educator, with over 30 years of experience. He and his wife, Janis are proud parents of two children.
