A Note About my Sabbatical

Seven years ago before becoming pastor here at Lourdes, I had everything arranged to take a sabbatical at a retreat center after having served in campus ministry for 10 years. With joy, I accepted the call of the Holy Spirit, to become the shepherd of this great flock! Yet , in these seven years I have neglected my spiritual life and have not taken the necessary time for renewal and refreshment. Though your awesome support, loving encouragement, and heart-warming affection have carried me through, I have been running on empty, so to speak. So starting Monday, July 24, I will take a short sabbatical (a month or so) for my spiritual housecleaning and well-being.

While I am away, Father Bruce will attend to the administration of the parish. He will depend on the parish staff and the assistance of Deacons Lenny and Chester to serve the needs of the community. Fathers Frederick LeBrecque (of Unbound), Joseph Morris, and Royal Lee will assist Father Bruce with the Masses and other sacramental needs.

Please keep me in your prayers as I will most certainly keep you in mine. I will return in September refreshed and renewed to serve you all with my whole heart.

With love in Christ,

Father Jeffery
